And here it is. Again. That time of the year when I would just put a blanket around me and I would leave the house like that. Of course, I would add a handbag with golden inserts, a black beret and a pair of fabulous heels. But let's come back to the main subject. We all feel the temperatures that went down in the past few days and we ask ourselves how to get cozy, without losing the aesthetics. Join me to discover 5 ways to beat the chill out in style:
1. Layering is the key
I have always been a fan of layering. Layering means the action of adding clothing pieces on top of other clothing pieces in order to get a cozy look, without sacrificing style. The best example is the outfit I'm wearing today. I added an oversized metallic shirt on top of the blue turtleneck. And on top of these, I added the denim jacket. Plus, underneath my favorite pair of jeans, I'm wearing a pair of gray tights. Don't hesitate to wear a blazer on top of a shirt, a dress on top of a turtleneck or a coat on top of a cardigan and a feminine blouse.
2. Tights may become your best friends
Tights are timeless, period. And they are our best friends during those cold long days. They save us when we want to wear dresses or skirts. I have 12 pairs of tights in my closet, but I'm obsessed; I'd recommend you to have 3 & #8211; 4 pairs of tights and wear them by rotation. What is the best color for tights? Black, of course! Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have some gray, blue or pink tights. It would definitely spice out your closet!
3. Life is better in a trench coat
This iconic fall piece is simply incredible during cold days. Not only does it look great on a lot of body types, but it also keeps you warm. Versatile, it is a piece that you can wear every day, in any combination. So, if you don't already have a trench coat in your closet, I sincerely recommend you buy one.
4. Do you have a cotton tank in your closet?
If yes, well done! If not, you should take seriously the idea of buying at least one. The cotton tank warms up very well and is ideal when you wear a thin piece on top. For example, I always wear a cotton tank underneath a fine shirt, a satin blouse or a turtleneck.
5. Holy trio: winter hat, scarf, gloves
These classic accessories are the ideal combination on a cold fall day. They provide protection for body areas you cannot cover with basic clothes. Personally, I mostly protect my head by wearing berets, hats or headbands. The scarf is also an ally in the case of cold, like gloves, too. Pro tip: choose classic pieces that you can wear over several seasons.
